A Study on the Awareness of Folk Medical Care of Community People


Abstract
The purpose of this study is to provide the basic data for adjusting and development of folk medical care in the dimension of people¢¥s health. This paper make a survey of¢¥¢¥; the awareness of folk medical care on 2,507 community people from 2nd to 31st October 1991.
The results are as follows.
First, according to applied people to survey, the twenties is 27.9%, the thirties is 23.31%, the forties is 18.0%, the woman is 58.0%, the married and unmarried people are 64.7%, 30.8%, respectively.
Second, The percentage of experience to folk medical care is 31.4%. Some people who intend a use of folk medical care are 44.3%. Therefore, among the people who answer) the questions, 75.7% have a positive reaction to the use of folk medical care.
Third, people having an opinion, a folk medical care takes effect or takes effect a little or not, are 80%, 24%, respectively.
Fourth, according to the scientific ground of a folk medical care, people believing that there are some grounds to rely upon, are 54.9%, and there is no ground to rely upon, are 6.2%.
Fifth, people who know one folk medical care are 85.8%, more than two kinds of folk medical care are 13.2%
Sixth, the experience of a folk medical care is correlated to age, religion and health recognition in the extent of 1%, to sex and education background in the extent of 5%. As mentioned above, to understand the characteristics of a folk medical care, develop an appropriate folk medical
care and utilize it, properly, authorities concerned and doctors will have to develop an educational program as well as a proper policy.
